Knowing there is a choice is the first step to change

Sometimes mindfulness is described as seeing clearly

The present is the only time that any of us have to be alive, to know anything, to perceive, to learn, to act, to change, to heal.

Being mindful we are waking up to what our senses are telling us

The present is the only time that any of us have to be alive, to know anything, to perceive, to learn, to act, to change, to heal.

About Alys

Hello, my name is Alys - a very warm welcome to my website.

I am a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Mindfulness Teacher. I have worked and trained in the field of Emotional Health and Personal Transformation for the last 20 years. I am deeply passionate about growing and evolving, and for us all to be able to access more of our true selves; my own healing journey has led me to train in many different modalities, finding tools to heal and transform my own life and inner wounds on a very deep and fundamental level. Thich Nhat Hanh says: Understanding is Love. This, along with Thich Nhat Hanh has inspired me greatly over my lifetime, and my life’s journey has been to study and learn, cultivating the skills to really see, hear and understand people, on a deep level; and of course this had to start with me understanding myself, and the healing that this understanding has brought me. When we feel understood, we feel loved, and accepted for our own uniqueness, and it’s through this acceptance that real healing occurs. There is much pain in not being seen, heard, and known for whom we truly ‘be’ and much discomfort and disconnection within, when we dont know who we truly are.

For all of us, the path of understaning and befriending our experience requires great gentleness and patience. The deep and persistent tendency to think that something is wrong with us is a prison that prevents us from living and loving fully. Yet as we learn to meet whatever arises in our body, heart and mind with kind acceptance, and a friendly interest, we discover a precious freedom. Rather than being identified as a defective and insufficient self, we can come to trust what Buddhists call our Buddha nature—the awareness and love that are our true essence.

As a mindfulness and meditation teacher, I have benefited greatly from my own mindfulness practice and feel that it weaves together all my life interests and experience. My practice inspires me to keep opening to life's challenges and limitless possibilities. I greatly enjoys sharing the journey of practice with others and continues to engage with regular supervision, ongoing training and personal development, spiritual teachings and dharma retreats to deepen and integrate my practice further.

I have studied with many leading teachers in the field of psychology, emotions, transformational healing, spiritual healing, energy psychology and health, piecing those teachings together and advancing upon them, creating my own unique ‘signature’ for emotional health.

I never came upon any of my discoveries through the process of rational thinking.

I take pride in being able to quickly get to the core of the issue, understanding what has created the wounds and how healing can be facilitated. I am very fortunate to be doing what I love most, helping to create change in people’s lives so that they can come home to who they truly are.

I would say that I have an ability to creatively unlock people’s potential. I am both compassionate and intuitive, which helps me to get to the core of the issue really quickly; whilst supporting and empowering people through their blocks with a mixture of emotional, body, cognitive and energy work. I work with the cutting edge energy psychology techniques, grounded in a deep understanding of Psychology and neuroscience, drawing from over a decade of Counselling, Psychotherapy and Mindfulness experience.

I have specialised in healing behavioural patterns, ancestral patterns, and inner child work; it is these early wounds and patterns that lay the foundations of all other relationships, so in order to achieve healthy patterns of relating, these early wounds need to be healed.

Drawing from over 20 years of mindfulness experience, I work very much in the here and now of my clients experience. A mindfulness based therapy places greater emphasis upon being present with our emotions as they are felt in our body - our “felt sense”. What is particularly valued is opening to the fullness of our experience rather than too quickly moving towards cognitive understanding and the finding of meaning. This is more about 'being with' rather than more doing. Learning to listen and stay with what our body feels in a spacious and kindly way. This way of working deeply resonates with my heart, I have found that by leaning into our experience cultivates a kindly acceptance, which serves as a vehicle for deep inner healing.
